Taiwan is one of the most popular countries for immigration among Hong Kong people. It is because its geographical location is closest to Hong Kong. In addition, the cultural differences between Taiwan and Hong Kong is the least, so Taiwan has gradually become one of the first choice for Hong Kong immigrants.
Investment Immigration in Taiwan has no requirement on academic qualification. For applicants who are Hong Kong or Macao permanent residents, only have to invest not less than NT$6 million (about 1.5 million Hong Kong dollars), approved by the Taiwan authorities, doing real business and pay tax. After one year, they are allowed to bring their spouses and children under the age of 20 to stay in Taiwan.
For fulfilling such requirement, applicants could set up a limited company in Taiwan and invest not less than NT$6 million for their business, then they can obtain a resident permit.
Applicant who obtained the resident permit and lived in Taiwan for 1 year (may exit Taiwan for not more than 30 days a year) or lived for 2 consecutive years and stay in Taiwan for more than 270 days each year, can apply for permanent residency in Taiwan.
Documents and Requirements for Hong Kong Applicant are as follows:
- HKSAR passport
- Hong Kong permanent resident identity card
- No criminal record
- Body check pass
- A Taiwanese sponsor
The whole process will take from company registration to obtaining of resident permit takes around 2 months. Applicant may visit Taiwan for 2-3 times to complete the whole process. The last time may require to stay Taiwan for longer (around 2 weeks).
