Non-Hong Kong Company Registration (HK Branch Office)
If a non-Hong Kong company (e.g. a company incorporated in the British Virgin Island) starts running its business in Hong Kong, it is required to register with the Companies Registry and obtain a business registration. The company must appoint a local authorised representative who is either a natural person, a firm of solicitors or certified public accountants (practising). The company is not a separate legal entity but rather a branch office in Hong Kong, and is then required to fulfil the statutory filing under the Companies Ordinance including annual returns and tax returns.
